Yard Sale Haul!

So I'm not a big fan of yard/garage sales. Nothing wrong with them, I just normally don't have the energy or motivation to look for their locations, drive around town, get out look, get in and drive again. My parents, however, love them and go out every weekend. Last weekend they passed by one, relatively small, but it paid off for me. One of the women there was closing her nail shop and getting rid of the last of her supplies. My mom picked up 6 nail polishes for me, selling for 3/$1! When she took me back later in the day, the woman had changed her price to 4/$1! She sold the stands for $.50 each! So I got...

The bottom 6 are the ones my mom picked out on her own, I got the rest when I went back.

Zoya normally retails for $6 a bottle, OPI for $8, and Revlon for around $5... This haul should've cost around $145. But I got it all for $7! Yay for moms! Looking back, I wish I would've offered $10 for the entire box of polish for sale, but I didn't think about it at the time.

Most of my collection can now sit in one place!

Greenworks Wipes

Everyone's trying to look for a way to do their part to help the environment, right? Even if it's something small. So while out shopping recently, I grabbed the Clorox Greenworks biodegradable cleaning wipes.

I used them yesterday for the first time - a simple task of cleaning the surface of my bedroom furniture - and was totally let down. I wiped everything down, and as the cleaning solution dried, it left lint everywhere. And I mean EVERYWHERE! It basically doubled the task because then I had to go back and clean the lint off.

I did everything right, I mean, can you really use a cleaning wipe the wrong way? I guess I'll keep using them... somehow... maybe when I have the energy to clean everything twice. But I'm disappointed.

Cute Minis!

I went outlet shopping over the weekend with my cousin. As we were leaving the bookstore, we were stopped and offered free samples from a nearby restaurant. They gave out samples of chicken and small mini cups of frozen lemonade and frozen mocha. It wasn't until later that we realized that the mini cups actually had little handles! We both thought it was adorable! :D

Bandages came off.

Original Date: 09.02.2008

Dad went in for his checkup today. His wounds are clear, no signs of infection, and he has new bandages on everything. This is his wrist (with gobs of antibiotic ointment) - 16 stitches piecing part of it back together. There are a few small spots of no skin. We didn't dare attempt to unwrap the finger again - it was enough trouble trying to wrap it the first time. I still haven't been able to return to work, as he can't fend for himself right now, and no one else is able to help him out. I might be able to go back on Friday. Until then, it's just me and Dad. :)

Bloody Saturday.

Original Date: 09.01.2008

This is kinda cheating, as it actually happened Saturday night. But this is what happened when my dad was left alone to trim tree branches. We were unaware he was in the tree - he had been trimming dead branches in preparation for Hurricane Gustav but said he was done and was on his way back inside. But apparently he wasn't done. He lost his footing when getting back on the ladder and fell 16 ft to the ground. He tried to grab the ladder on the way down, and it ripped his hand (down to the bon
e) and wrist open. After an 8 hour trip to the ER, he's left with 3 small fractures on his left hip, 27 stitches along his middle finger, and 16 stitches on his wrist.

Gustav hit today and we received tropical storm conditions. I took some pics and will upload them later and post them along with tomorrow's entry.

Every aspect of my life is contained within these 2 books. I record it all - how much money I spend, what shows to watch, the weather that day, life happenings, food intake, etc. It calms me and keeps me sane, and it's fun to look back on random events.
